Legal Setback for Wright in Bitcoin Inventor Claim
This decision marks a significant setback for Wright, as he has unsuccessfully attempted to appeal the ruling twice. McCormack’s legal representative, Rupert Cowper-Coles from RPC, expressed satisfaction with the judgment, emphasizing the nominal damages awarded to his client.
Wright Faces Additional Legal Battles
However, this is not the only legal battle in which Wright is involved. He is currently embroiled in a separate case against various crypto companies and bitcoin developers, alleging copyright violations of Bitcoin’s white paper and blockchain database. The non-profit Cryptocurrency Open Patent Alliance (COPA) recently rejected a settlement offer from Wright, citing concerns about potential future lawsuits.
